What is the long description of your project?

The valley station of the cog railway is located at the foot of the Schafberg mountain, directly on Lake Wolfgang. It consists of a two-story main building and a single-story annex. Together with the existing workshops, they enclose the station area like a courtyard. A sawtooth roof spans the two new buildings, also providing cover for the platform. The folding of the roof also extends vertically as a second facade level, continuing the motif of the folded structure in the views. The resulting small-scale structure creates a dialogue with the small-scale buildings in the surrounding area. In the main building, the various public functional areas, such as the entrance hall with ticketing, exhibition, shop, restaurant, and event area, were arranged in an open hall. This was opened up to the surroundings by surrounding glazing in the facades and in the shed roof, thus establishing a connection to the lake and the mountains. The materials wood and steel play a central role. The superimposition of the station typology with the requirements of the building for tourist use creates a broad and exciting thematic arc. “Industrial” materials and a technical design language anchor the building atmospherically in the station typology, while wood creates a pleasant atmosphere for visitors.
